Getting ready for Valentines

This morning we used watercolor daubers to make some Valentine artwork.

I added white sand and our Arctic animals to the table as a fun new thing to explore.

The girls had some discussions over what colors different Disney princesses wear. Their disagreements lead to a chance to teach them how to stand up for themselves and make their own choices.

This morning we had chapel with Mr. Marolf. He shared a Bible verse about God's angels keeping guard over us and story of a time when God's angels were watching over him.

We pretended to drive like Mr. Marolf did in his story.

We practiced identifying numbers and putting them in order by using a strip piece puzzle

We also decorated our Valentines bags for next week.

Marshmallow sculptures

This morning we tried our skills at making marshmallow sculptures.

In Jesus time this week we are learning the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. We talked about how only God can do miracles.

We also made a list of ways that we stay warm and ways animals stay warm.

We decided to see how animals stay warm by being close together after looking at pictures of penguins and walruses huddled together. Everyone took a turn at being in the middle.

We practiced painting realistic paintings by looking at paintings pictures of Arctic animals to paint our picture.

We practiced the letter sounds as we matched pictures to the correct initial letter sound.

Mrs. Helmkamp showed the boys how we can make a long track with the flexiblocks and have the wheels roll down.

Nathan asked the girls if they wanted to play girl super heroes with him, and they gladly agreed
We came up with ways that we stay warm and how animals stay warm. We are going to have to figure out more ways that animals stay warm.

We used pictures of Arctic animals to help us paint realistic pictures.

We practiced our phonics by matching pictures to the letter they start with.
