Germs, germs everywhere

Free play time

This morning we had chapel with Pastor Hoehner. He shared with us the story of Naaman who had leprosy, Elisha told him to wash in the Jordan river 7 times. Naaman didn't think it would work because the Jordan was dirty. He showed us a jar of dirty water and asked if we would like to drink it. He shared with us that it isn't the water that has the power but the word. Just like in baptism it is the Word of God with the water that gives us forgiveness.

We watched a short video about germs before heading our around the school to find germ hot spots.

On our germ search we used our clipboards to record the places we saw germs.

In the classroom in our small groups we used lotion and glitter to simulate germs on our hands. Then we practiced washing our hands to get the germs off. We noticed we had to really scrub good to get the "germs" to all wash away. We also found we had to wash places like our wrists and fingernails to get it all off.

We also recorded the places we found germs and how we can get sick from germs. As we finished we sorted germs in the rice table, we could sort by size, color, or number of eyes.

We used silly eyes and pipe cleaners to make our own germs with paintings we made a few weeks ago.

When we were done we learned from the Scrub Club, the 6 steps of hand washing. We are going to practice washing our hands well when we wash them.
