School Tour

Today we learned about Abraham and Sarah again. We talked about how God promised Abraham that he would have as many children as the stars in the sky. God kept his promise to Abraham and gave him a son, Isaac. We make books to remind us that God keeps his promises to us.

We talked about what we know about our school. This is the list the kids today came up with:
  • School was built with bricks - David
  • has windows - Nathan
  • has walls - Caleb
  • We eat at school - Chloe
  • Plenty of room, and you can play with toys. - Alex
  • We are in the same school but not in the same grade (referring to sister) - Caleb
On our tour of the Elementary Buildy we stopped in the foyer to talk about some of the other grades in the school
Then we checked out the office to see who we could meet. We found out that Mrs. Schmidt answers the phone, sends emails, does work for teachers, and helps people. "She does a lot." - Nathan
David asked Mr. M (Marolf) what he did. We found out that he is in charge of all the sports and when kids get in trouble the go and see him. He also told us he was 123 years old and that when we can count that high to let him know.
Mrs. Kuhlmann was in the office too. She told us her job was to make sure all the preschoolers were having fun at school. They let her know that they were having fun.
The last person we met in the office was Mr. Debrick. I told them that Mr. Debrick was in charge of the whole school.
On our tour we also peeked into some classrooms and saw the gym before heading out to the playground.

We got out the signs and enjoyed figuring out what they mean and carrying them around the playground

We also buried them in the rocks

Reading a silly rhymning book called Dust Bunnies

Rhyme is important to emergent literacy and learning to read because it teaches children about the language. Rhyming helps children learn about word families such as let, met, pet, wet, and get. Rhyming also teaches children the sound of the language. And rhyming is fun.

During center time we made Starry Night paintings in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. We also did 2 different Mat Man drawings one this morning and one after making Mat Man on the table.

We enjoyed dancing the "Silly Dance Contest" and "Jump Up Turn Around" together

 David led our prayers today.
