Salt and Water

This morning we made salt art, kind of like sand art except we had to color our salt using chalk.
Stirring the salt with our piece of chalk took lots of finger muscles. Everyone worked hard to make lots of colors to fill up their glass jar.

We played with ice in the exploration table. We are going to start to discover the difference in the size of ice versus when it melts.

We did an experiment with salt too. Each preschooler had to make their prediction on what they thought would happen when salt and water were mixed together. We were surprised when we mixed them together and the salt disappeared. We learned that it didn't disappear, it dissolved because we could still taste it in the water.
Then we made pipe cleaner sculptures to put into our salt water to see what happens next.
